December 2007, Poland, Lodz, Park Staromiejski known as “Park Sledzia” (Park of the herring). The strange name of the place comes from the fish market that used to be in that place. The park lays at the edge of Baluty - Old Jewish district of the town (and former Litzmannstadt Ghetto) and the city centre. The market was one of the most smelly places in Lodz, and the river that used to flow in the place of Polnocna Street (North Street) was one of the most polluted, that finally was covered and turned into sewer.
Today the park is quite nice place with its trees, water pools and the paths with the stylised lampposts. It is a green patch just beside the crowdy and grey city centre, however it is not a good place to have a walk at night. Camera: Samsung GX 10, Lens Samsung 17-50mm + Hama Polar filter.
