Catholic Church of Holy Name of Jesus, built in 1880 as a Protestant Lutheran church of John Evangelist. It had been Lutheran temple till the 1945 when - after take over of the city by Red Army (so called liberation) - the rest of the old German population of the city (the original German population of Lodz), together with the new German colonists settled in Lodz by the policy of the Nazi regime (Lodz as many other Polish or multinational cities was incorporated to the 3rd Reich), fled or was brutally forced to leave (after 5 years of occupation, Germans in Lodz were chased and hunted by the former slaves - Poles), so the number of the Lutherans in Lodz was reduced to very low level (however there was still Polish Lutherans). After the 2nd World War the number of Lutheran churches was reduced to 1 (Church of St Mathew), all others were converted to Catholic temples. The church is placed at the junction of Sienkiewicz and Roosevelt street (former Protestant Street). Camera: Samsung GX10, HDR
