Place of many strikes of miners against their employer - owners of mine “Giesche” and one of the battlefields of three Silesian Uprisings of the Poles against Germans (Silesia used to be a mixture of ethnics - mostly Polish and Germans - both wanted those lands to be part of their country, in the time of nationalistic ideas that brought many troubles).
